Wednesday, May 5, 2010 - 17:28 News: Show Report: Viva (IBS) Las Vegas 2010

Our first time at IBS Las Vegas and it feels so, so good. Led by industry pioneer, Nick Arrojo, the ARROJO artist team was the main draw at IBS center-stage, IBS classroom, and the IBS convention floor.

The opening gambit: A vivid interpretation of latest trends in modern hair shape, color, and style, exposed in a compelling runway show that features a sizzling soundtrack and a high-octane background video. It is a texture-bending collection that forgoes the traditional techniques of hairdressing. Methods of round and square cutting, rather than be kept separate, are used in each cut. It enables stunning layers and texture whilst maintaining length and weight, creating flexibility within the shape. Offset with blocks of strong bold color, this was a collection of romance and passion, and it set the tone for a stand out show.

With ARROJO Ambassadors charting a new course of growth  and inspiration for all hairdressers, ARROJO’s  advanced, career-shaping education is another hot topic at the show. Invited into the classroom to host an instructive razor presentation, Nick’s demo is an example of how the application of fundamental techniques gives you the potential to blend creativity, flow and feel with sure-fire technical precision. His abiding message to his fellow hairdressers is to have passion, improve technique, and realize creative potential. The prescription, he says, is to “commit to the discipline of the craft and embrace the advantages of education.”

Singing the same tune, the buzz-worthy ARROJO trade booth. ARROJO master stylists exhibit the world-renowned techniques developed and practiced at our award-winning studio. Dominating the action, three cuts from the latest ARROJO education DVD, Trend Volume 3 that show an audience, inspired, how to create flexible texture with a combination of round and square cutting; how to blend layers and disconnection; and how to shape a structured interior, with lots of looseness and movement on the outside of the cut.

And that’s Vegas, baby. Next stop for the ARROJO artistic team: Orlando Premiere.
