From a technical standpoint, the New Shag uses soft asymmetry to bring balance to the shape of the cut. The flat side is kept flat with super-short undercutting on a horizontal plane. A disconnection that allows another section of hair to fall over the top of the undercut portion, keeping that side of the head light and loose and flat. The other side is heavier and rounded. To create this shape, a new kind of triangular sectioning pattern is practiced, while the cut is executed with an experimental, spiraling, windmill-shaped layer technique.
Components created by Lina. The result is a haircut with space and texture. The different lengths of hair hit different spots for a soft and shimmering look. Longer lengths and disconnection blend for movement and flexibility within perfect face-framing shape.
It gives hair extra capacity for fullness and body. Hair will hold curls, texture, or stay straight. One side shaggy side, one side sleek, it allows natural texture to shine in a smooth and graceful way. Bangs can be deep set or not, but are a cut above when swept to the side. Easy to tailor to different lengths, the New Shag can go shorter or longer, as preference dictates.
The technique is ingenious, innovative, and effective. The look is modern, trend-conscious, and wearable, with unparalleled freedom of motion.
It has featured in our latest editorial collections. Our clients are asking for it every day. We’re sharing it with fellow stylists at nationwide hair and beauty shows. We’re teaching it at our ARROJO inspiration advanced education seminar. And we’ve put it onto our new Trend Volume 2 DVD.
The New Shag brings new configuration, form and structure to modern-day shape and style.
