Long Beach Heroes

31,000 beauty professionals, 400 exhibitors, technical theatre’s, international fashion theatre’s, hands-on education – they all go together to make the International Salon and Spa Expo (ISSE), the biggest beauty show on the west coast of America.

Held from February 3-5 at the Long Beach Convention Centre, it was here that, in partnership with our manufacturer, Wella, Arrojo first showcased the Wella-inspired Future Vision trends for 2007.

The first, Rustic Luxury, is stylish and ecological. Rich in texture and movement, hair length is mid to long with lots of structure, and emboldened with different lengths in one cut. The result: a disconnected but balanced rough and uncut style. And with the healthy, unfinished look hued with warm natural shades of amber-blonde to cinnamon-brown, the raw, uncut edge of this trend powers through.

Hot on Rustic Luxury’s heels came Nordic Serenity. An ethereal, dream-like trend where nature meets technology. For hair the interpretation is clean and sophisticated, soft and fluid, wispy and light – all offset with minimal, understated styling. For cut and color audiences were wowed as Arrojo displayed head-hugging and slim flowing lines that were groomed and shiny, yet soft and clean. Symbolic Nordic color focused on cool blondes, powdery browns and soft high and low-lights – stunning.

Next: Sensual Intrigue – a neo-gothic hair story as dark as it is delightful. With couture attitude and big time sensuality this time hair is mysterious, controlled, elegant, lacquered, and definitely dramatic. Hair features clean and controlled solid lines and deep-set, mystery-bound bangs. This trend sees hair seriously straight, with occasional sculptural waves, and has cold color – dusty blue, bluish grey, and dark brown. Deep.

Pop Couture, the final of the four trends, is very sixties inspired. The aim is to create clean lines, just as it was in the sixties, but with the benefit of using modern texturizing technique to take weight out of the hair. Hair is free and light; the line is super clean, with the emphasis on creating a truly fabulous fringe. Solid base color is used for shine and effect, and provides a defining contrast with the truly fabulous fringes that emphasize this look. Bold, gorgeous and graphic.

If you’re a stylist, use this inspiration to tailor sophisticated, upbeat and wearable looks in the salon every single day; if you’re a consumer use this inspiration to get a hot new look that’s sure to get you noticed.
